PRETORIA: In the heart of Pretoria, a 14-year-old Grade 8 learner at High School Menlopark is chasing a passion that lights up her world: netball. Keane Badenhorst plays U14 for Jacaranda City TPL Netball.
She is committed, hardworking, and determined to grow as an athlete. Her mother, Catherine McNeil, is reaching out because the costs of providing this opportunity for her daughter have become difficult for the family to bear alone.
Keane has already been selected to represent Jacaranda City TPL. The chance to train, compete, and develop at this level is significant for a young player. But the reality is practical and heavy. The total cost for her TPL participation, required kit, and proper netball shoes comes to R6,395. This covers participation and facility fees, coaching, photos and streaming, medical support, warm-up gear, and the specialised shoes she needs.
Those shoes matter especially. Keane has dealt with shin splints. Suitable, supportive footwear is not a luxury. She needs to train and play safely, while she continues to improve.
