To Continue Her TPL Journey
A young South African netball player is appealing to businesses, organisations and members of the community for support as she works to continue developing her talent on the netball court.
A fourteen-year-old netball player, Keane’McNeil, a learner at Hoërskool Menlopark, currently represents Jacaranda City in U14 TPL netball. Passionate about the sport, she is committed to improving her skills and growing as a young athlete.
Her mother, Catherine McNeil, is appealing to potential sponsors to help cover the growing costs of TPL participation. These expenses include her TPL kit, netball shoes, participation fees, training and coaching, transport and other costs associated with competing at this level. The young player has also experienced shin splints, making appropriate, high-quality netball shoes particularly important to provide the support and cushioning she needs during play and training.
“As a family, we are doing everything we can to give her this opportunity, but the overall costs have become difficult for us to manage,” McNeil said.
The family is therefore asking businesses and sporting organisations to consider assisting with either some or all the costs. Support does not necessarily have to be in the form of cash.
Assistance could include:
- Netball shoes or sports equipment
- Playing kit
- Sports vouchers
- Training or coaching support
- Transport assistance
- Financial sponsorship
- Any other assistance that could help her remain involved in TPL netball
Even a small contribution could make a meaningful difference and help ensure that financial circumstances do not stand in the way of a young athlete pursuing a sport she loves. McNeil says she is able to provide proof of her daughter’s TPL participation, a breakdown of expenses, photographs and any other information a potential sponsor may require.

For many young athletes, talent and dedication are only part of the journey. The cost of equipment, transport, coaching and participation can become a significant barrier for families. This appeal is therefore not simply about helping one young netball player—it is also an opportunity for the community and local businesses to play a role in supporting youth sport and helping young athletes reach their potential.
